In Honor of Black History Month: Beverly Johnson
One of the first African American supermodels and made her first big debut on the cover of Vogue in 1974, in a breathtaking photo shot by Francesco Scavullo. Johnson worked as a cover girl for almost two decades and was one of the most successful models in her time. You may have seen her as a on TV Land`s "She`s Got the Look," a model search for women 35 and over. The Buffalo, New York, native helped lay the stones for the very ground black supermodels like Iman, Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks walk today.

Beverly Johnson is the perfect example of the saying "black don't crack"; even after all these year she has stayed on top of her game. She has truly led by actions by showing us what a classy yet sexy African American woman can accomplish without degrading or belittling herself.
